Balakanda Chapter 28

Viswamitra Celestial weapons to Rama- 2!

With Sanskrit text in Telugu , Kannada and Devanagari,

ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡ
ಅಷ್ಟಾವಿಂಶಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ

ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯ ತತೋsಸ್ತ್ರಾಣೀ ಪ್ರಹೄಷ್ಟ ವದನ ಶ್ಶುಚಿಃ |
ಗಚ್ಛನ್ನೇವ ಚ ಕಾಕುಸ್ಥೋ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರ ಮಥಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||

Having cleansed himself and received the weapons from Sage Viswamitra , SriRama with a pleased countenance spoke to him as follows.

ಗೃಹೀತಾಸ್ತ್ರೋsಸ್ಮಿ ಭಗವಾನ್ ದುರಾಧರ್ಷಃ ಸುರಾಸ್ಸುರೈಃ |
ಅಸ್ತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ತ್ವಹಮಿಚ್ಛಾಮಿ ಸಂಹಾರಂ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವ |

Oh Bhagavan ! I received the weapons which canot be countered by Suras and Asuras alike. Oh Best of Sages ! I am interested in knowing about the means of withdrawing them too !

ಏವಂ ಬ್ರುವತಿ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥೇ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ |
ಸಂಹಾರಂ ವ್ಯಾಜಹಾರಾಥ ಧೃತಿಮಾನ್ ಸುವ್ರತಶ್ಶುಚಿಃ ||

When thus requested by Rama , that member of Kakutstha line , the sage too cleansed himself and taught those mantras for withdrawl.

ಸತ್ಯವಂತಂ ಸತ್ಯಕೀರ್ತಿಂ ಧೃಷ್ಟಂ ರಭಸಮೇವ ಚ |
ಪ್ರತಿಹಾರತರಂ ನಾಮ ಪರಾಜ್ಞ್ಮುಖಮವಾಜ್ಞ್ಮುಖಮ್ ||
ಲಕ್ಷಾಕ್ಷ ವಿಷಮೌ ಚೈವ ದೃಢನಾಭಸುನಾಭಕೌ |
ದಶಾಕ್ಷಶತವಕ್ತ್ರೌ ಚ ದಶಶೀರ್ಷಶತೋದರೌ ||
ಪದ್ಮನಾಭ ಮಹಾಬಾಹೌ ದುಂದುನಾಭಸುನಾಭಕೌ |
ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷಂ ಕೃಶನಂ ಚೈವ ನೈರಾಶ್ಯವಿಮಲಾವುಭೌ ||
ಯೋಗಂಧರಹರಿದ್ರೌ ಚ ದೈತ್ಯಪ್ರಶಮನೌ ತಥಾ |
ಶುಚಿಬಾಹುರ್ಮಹಾಬಾಹುಃ ನಿಷ್ಕುಲಿರ್ವಿರುಚಿಸ್ತಥಾ |
ಸಾರ್ಚಿರ್ಮಾಲೀ ಧೃತಿರ್ಮಾಲೀ ವೃತ್ತಿಮಾನ್ ರುಚಿರಸ್ತಥಾ ||
ಪಿತೃಸೌಮನಸಂ ಚೈವ ವಿಧೂತಮಕರಾವುಭೌ |
ಕರವೀರಕರಂ ಚೈವ ಧನಧಾನ್ಯೌ ಚ ರಾಘವ ||
ಕಾಮರೂಪಂ ಕಾಮರುಚಿಂ ಮೋಹಮಾವರಣಂ ತಥಾ |
ಜೃಂಭಕಂ ಸರ್ವನಾಭಂ ಚ ಸಂತಾನವರುಣೌ ತಥಾ ||

' Satyavantam , Satyakirthi , Rabhasamu, Vangmukham known as Pratiharatam and Parangmukham, Apratiharatam , Lakshaksham , Vishamam, Dhrudhanaabham , Sunabham , Dasaksham, SataVaktram, DasaSirsham , Satodaram, Padmanaabham, Mahabaahu, Dumdunaabham, Sunabham , Jyotisham, Krusanam , as well as the two Nairasyam and Vimalam ,Yogandharam, Haridram , Daityam, Prasamanam , Suchibahu , Mahabahu . Nishkuli , simlarly Viruchi, Sarchimali , Dhrutimali , Vruttiman, similarly Ruchiram , PitruSaumanasam , Vidhutam, Makaram, KaraVirakaram, Dhanam , Dhanyam Kamarupam, Kamaruchi, Mohamu, Avaranamu, similarly Jhrumbhakam, Sarvanabham, Santanam,and Varunam ; Oh Rama these are the Mantras for withdrawl.

ಭೃಶಾಶ್ವತನಯಾನ್ ರಾಮ ಭಾಸ್ಕರಾನ್ ಕಾಮರೂಪಿಣಃ |
ಪ್ರತೀಚ್ಛಮಮ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ಪಾತ್ರಭೂತೋsಸಿ ರಾಘವ ||

'Oh Raghava ! The weapons of the sons of Bhrusasva who can attain any form have already been instructed to you . You are capable of receiving these weapons also . May you be safe!'

ಬಾಢ ಮಿತ್ಯೇವ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥಃ ಪ್ರಹೃಷ್ಟೇ ನಾಂತರಾತ್ಮನಾ |
ಜಗ್ರಾಹ ಮಂತ್ರಗ್ರಾಮಂ ತೇsಪ್ಯುಪತಸ್ಥುಶ್ಚ ರಾಘವಮ್ ||
ದಿವಭಾಸ್ವರ ದೇಹಾಶ್ಚ ಮೂರ್ತಿಮಂತಃ ಸುಖಪ್ರದಾಃ |
ಕೇಚಿದಂಗಾರಾಸದೃಶಾಃ ಕೇಚಿದ್ದೂಮೋಪಮೋಸ್ತದಾ ||
ಚಂದ್ರಾರ್ಕ ಸದೃಶಾಃ ಕೇಚಿತ್ ಪ್ರಹ್ವಾಂಜಲಿಪುಟಾಸ್ತಥಾ ||
ರಾಮಂ ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಯೋ ಭೂತ್ವಾs ಬ್ರುವನ್ ಮಧುರ ಭಾಷಿಣಃ |
ಇಮೇ ಸ್ಮ ನರಶಾರ್ದೂಲ ಶಾಧಿ ಕಿಂ ಕರವಾಮ ತೇ ||

Then that scion of Kakutsthas was pleased and saying ," So be it" received those weapons. The reigning gods of those weapons too joined SriRama. They were of luminous celestial form. They were pleasing nature. Some were of equivalent of 'Angara'. Some were of the nature of smoke. Some were of the nature of moon. All of them having paid obeisance to SriRama asked him , 'O Tiger among men ! Please tell us what are we to do ?'

ಮಾನಸಾಃ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಕಾಲೇಷು ಸಹಾಯ್ಯಂ ಮೇ ಕರಿಷ್ಯಥ |
ಗಮ್ಯತಾಮಿತಿ ತಾನಾಹ ಯಥೇಷ್ಟಂ ರಘುನಂದನ ||
ಅಥತೇ ರಾಮಮಾಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಕೃತ್ವಾಚಾಪಿ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಮ್|
ಏವಮಸ್ತ್ವಿತಿ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥಮ್ ಉಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಜಗ್ಮುರ್ಯಥಾಗತಮ್ |

The scion of Raghus then told them,' You may help me even as I remember you. For now you may go to your appointed places.'. They then saying 'So be it', they went back to their places after going around SriRama as a mark of respect.

ತತಸ್ತು ರಾಮಃ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥಃ ಶಾಸನಾದ್ಬ್ರಹ್ಮವಾದಿನಃ |
ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಾಯ ಚ ತಾನ್ ಸರ್ವಾನ್ ವರಾಸ್ತ್ರಾನ್ ರಘುನಂದನಃ |
ಸಂಹಾರಾನ್ ಸ ಚ ಸಂಹೃಷ್ಟಃ ಶ್ರೀಮಾಂತಸ್ಮೈನ್ಯವೇದಯತ್ ||

Then that scion of Kakustha taught all those weapons to Lakshmana too as per the directions of the venerable sage Viswamitra. He also taught the the mantras for withdrawl too.

ಸ ಚ ತಾನ್ ರಾಘವೋ ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾ ವಿಶಾಮಿತ್ರಂ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಮ್ |
ಗಚ್ಛನ್ನೇವಾಥ ಮಧುರಂ ಶ್ಲಕ್ಷಂ ವಚನಮಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||

Having learnt all those and travelling further with sage Viswamitra , SriRama addressed him with the following sweet words.

ಕಿನ್ವೇತನ್ಮೇಘಸಂಕಾಶಂ ಪರ್ವತಸ್ಯವಿದೂರತಃ |
ವೃಕ್ಷಷಂಡಮಿತೋ ಭಾತಿ ಪರಂ ಕೌತೂಹಲಂ ಹಿ ಮೇ ||
ದರ್ಶನೀಯಂ ಮೃಗಾಕೀರ್ಣಂ ಮನೋರಮಮತೀವ ಚ |
ನಾನಾ ಪ್ರಕಾರೈಃ ಭಾತಿ ಪರಂ ಕೌತೂಹಲಂ ಹಿ ಮೇ |
ನಿಸ್ಸೃತಾಃ ಸ್ಮ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಟ ಕಾಂತಾರಾದ್ರೋ ಮಹರ್ಷಣಾತ್ |
ಅನಯಾತ್ವವಗಚ್ಛಾಮಿ ದೇಶಸ್ಯ ಸುಖವತ್ತಯಾ |
ಸರ್ವಂ ಮೇ ಶಂಸ ಭಗವನ್ ಕಸ್ಯಾಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ತ್ವಿದಮ್ ||

' Oh best of Sages! Around these mountains there are tree groves similar to clouds. This grove is beautiful with variety of animals. There are wide variety of birds making pleasant noises. The whiole area gives a pleasant feeling. It is as though we moved out of fearful forest too a pleasant one.I am very curious to know. O Bhagavan ! Whose is this hermitage ? You may tell me every thing'.

ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾ ಯತ್ರ ತೇ ಪಾಪಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಘ್ನಾ ದುಷ್ಟಚಾರಿಣಃ |
ತವ ಯಜ್ಹಸ್ಯ ವಿಘ್ನಾಯ ದುರಾತ್ಮಾನೋ ಮಹಾಮುನೇ |
ಭಗವನ್ ತಸ್ಯ ಕೋ ದೇಶಃ ಸಾ ಯತ್ರ ತವ ಯಾಜ್ಞಿಕೀ ||

'Oh Great Sage ! which is that place where the sinful , the killers of Brahmans and the ones who obstruct your sacrificial rites come from ?

ರಕ್ಷಿತವ್ಯಾ ಕ್ರಿಯಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ಮಯಾ ವಧ್ಯಾಶ್ಚ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಃ |
ಏತತ್ಸರ್ವಂ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಶ್ರೋತುಮಿಛ್ಛಾಮ್ಯಹಂ ಪ್ರಭೋ ||

O Prabho! which is that place where I have to kill the Rakshasas and protect the sacrificial rites. I am desirous of knowing all that'.

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ
ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡೇ ಅಷ್ಟಾವಿಂಶಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ ||
ಸಮಾಪ್ತಂ ||
